Al-Amin Islamic Boarding School in Mojokerto grew out of one conviction: that Nahdlatul Ulama needed cadres of quality and broad outlook, of noble character and independent spirit, of service to their faith, their people, and their country.
The school was formally founded on 16 July 2000, with the vision “Knowledge put into practice, deeds grounded in knowledge, and noble character, on the teaching of Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah an-Nahdliyah”.
Three Strengths
As a formal Islamic boarding school, Al-Amin has been built on three principal strengths:
- Language - Arabic and English as part of students’ daily life.
- Classical texts - the study of the turats as the foundation of Islamic learning.
- Leadership - leadership formed through student organisations and activities.
Six Years of Education
Education at Al-Amin runs for six years, from junior high (Madrasah Tsanawiyah) through senior high (Madrasah Aliyah). The curriculum issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs is combined with the school’s own, so that students gain both academic grounding and depth in the religious sciences.
The School and Digital Change
To stay capable without letting go of the school’s scholarly tradition, Al-Amin has developed a number of digital systems, among them:

- ALIMS - Al-Amin Library Management System.
- E-SIM - Al-Amin Electronic Management Information System.
The school also runs a cashless payment scheme within the dormitories, to make managing students’ money simpler.
